This month, we're honoring the exceptional Dr. Rachel Knox, MD, MBA.
Together with her mom, Dr. Janice M Vaughn-Knox, MD, MBA, sister Dr. Jessica Knox, MD, MBA MPH and dad Dr. David Knox, MD, Dr. Rachel Knox is a pioneer in the study of the body's endocannabinoid system and is a certified Cannabinoid Medicine specialist.
After training in Family and Integrative Medicine, Dr. Rachel went on to further her studies in Integrative Medicine before finding her passion in Endocannabinology. Her family's practice now specializes in Integrative Cannabinology, Functional Endocannabinology™ and Cannabinoid Medicine, and she is an internationally-renowned thought leader in this field.
Dr. Rachel recently gave a TEDx talk introducing the endocannabinoid system and cannabis medicine to a worldwide audience. This is a system (like the circulatory or nervous system) that the body uses to maintain balance. In her talk, Dr. Rachel explained that although the system was discovered 27 years ago, it is still omitted from medical textbooks - due, she believes, to the pharmaceutical influence in the advent of modern medicine. Her enlightening talk explains that we are able to take our power back when it comes to health, and that it all comes down to self-love - a message that we at LUV are very much on board with!
Dr. Rachel advises that nurturing the endocannabinoid system restores balance to the body and that this can be done by: eating real food; supplementing with adaptogenic herbs and spices; detoxing; exercising and staying fit; incorporating phytocannabinoids and cannabimimetics; and maintaining healthy relationships. You can watch the full TEDx talk here.
The work that Dr. Rachel Knox and her family are doing, is helping people who are suffering from a broad range of conditions, from cancer to chronic pain. There is much still to be uncovered and learned in this field, and it is the life's work of this extraordinary woman to educate the world and to bring an understanding of the endocannabinoid system to the mainstream, in order to help even more people.
An incredible inspiration!
