WOMAN OF THE MONTH: JENEIL WILLIAMS

WOMAN OF THE MONTH: JENEIL WILLIAMS

Artist, model, and international star Jeneil Williams talks with us about her self-love journey and how she stays focused on feeling fit and healthy. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Jeneil trained in track and field in her youth and was bound for the Olympics until an injury cut her athletic career short. But she didn’t let that stop her ambitions. After winning a Caribbean model search in 2005, her modeling career took off. Since then, she’s been featured in campaigns with the likes of Jimmy Choo, Edun, and Balenciaga. Her passion for living a fit and healthy lifestyle also led to a multi-year collaboration with Nike.

How do you identify yourself?

A An artist/model.

What is your greatest accomplishment? What are you most proud of?

So far in my career, I am very proud of everything I have accomplished and all the clients I worked with and the ones to come.

How do you express love to others?

A I express my love by cooking for others.

It’s not easy to love yourself in today’s world. What would you say has been your greatest obstacle to self love? In other words, what’s the false narrative you tell yourself that keeps you small?

A I can’t remember a time that I didn’t have any self-love, even when I was bullied for the color of my skin. My self-love never went away, it got stronger.

Has that narrative ever kept you from your greatness?

A It hasn’t. It pushes me to go after all my dreams and to not be afraid to dive blindly into darkness towards success.

What helps you overcome that voice?

A The mantras I have, to dive head first towards success and not be afraid of uncertainty, make me the person I am.

What’s your favorite self-love ritual?

A Delicious chocolate cake. A great movie.

What are your top three tips for staying fit and healthy?

A I stay fit and healthy by working out 5 to 6 times a week, when I can. I keep moving throughout the day. I try to cook every day or meal-prep on my busy weeks. My top 3 tips would be to try to work out as often as you can, make it a lifestyle. Eat out less, try to cook at home more. And try to turn your snacks into healthy snacks.

What impact do you hope to leave on the world?

A To help make a change with kids being bullied.

What three things would you tell your younger self?

A Don’t be so hard on yourself. Enjoy life, ‘cause tomorrow is promised to no one! DON’T take everything so seriously.
