Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that is popular for a number of skin concerns, including acne scars, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles and prominent pores.
Microneedling works by using small needles to prick the outermost layer of the skin, helping to promote collagen production and circulation. Fans of the procedure swear that it gives them firmer, smoother and more radiant skin. It’s also been shown to increase the absorption (and therefore efficacy) of your beauty products.
Until fairly recently, microneedling has been the domain of dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons, but thanks to derma rollers, you can now (as showcased by Naomi Campbell in a recent Vogue beauty secrets interview) get the benefits of the treatment in the comfort of your own home!
Here are some of our favorites:

ORA Microneedle Derma Pen System - Using a vibration mechanism, this roller produces faster and more precise needle stroke that you can control: it has five speed settings as well as an adjustable needle head which lets you increase the depth of the needle penetration. It can also be used on the scalp to promote scalp health and hair growth.
ORA Microneedle Face & Full Body Roller Kit - another excellent product from ORA, this 5-piece kit is great if you want to try microneedling on stretch marks or scars on your body. The kit comes with interchangeable roller heads to use on the body, face, eyes and lips as well as a stamp head for targeting small areas.
StackedSkincare Microneedling Tool - this has 0.2mm stainless steel needles, with an ergonomic aluminium handle for a comfortable hold. Recommended for daily use, the needle head is easily replaced and should be replaced monthly for sanitary and effectiveness reasons.
Linduray Skincare Derma Roller Microneedling Kit - a good option if you’re new to microneedling, as it comes with three instructional user guides to get you going and answer all your questions. Its pure grade titanium needles are 0.25mm long and it has an ergonomic handle for comfortable use, recommended at 2-3 times a week.
As with any cosmetic treatment, make sure that you check with your healthcare provider that microneedling is a safe option for you, as certain treatments and medications may make it unsuitable for your skin.
